Pneumatic punching machine: guaranteeing safety and efficient production

Pneumatic punch press utilizes high pressure gas generated by a compressor, which is piped to a solenoid valve, the action of which is controlled by a footswitch, thus realizing the work and return of the cylinder for the purpose of punching.

Punch press operation is a dangerous job, therefore, before actually operating the press, the operator must carefully read the operation manual of the press, strictly comply with the requirements of the manual, and follow the correct steps to ensure safe and reliable operation. Even if you have practical experience in operating a punch press, you should not ignore this point, and it is strictly forbidden to modify or neglect the operation steps by yourself. Blind operation can easily cause punch press accidents.

The following are some points that must be noted in the operation of pneumatic punching machine: 

1. Basic Safety Requirements 

Operators must be professionally trained and strictly abide by the operation specifications. Before starting the machine, you must wear personal protective equipment such as goggles, protective gloves, anti-noise ear muffs and work clothes. Ensure that there is no debris around the equipment and the working environment is clean to reduce accidents caused by environmental factors.

2. Check before starting the machine:

(1) Check whether the air pump is functioning normally and make sure the air pressure meets the requirements.
(2) Check whether the power switch and emergency stop button are intact.
(3) Check whether the installation of the punch and the mold is firm, whether the alignment is accurate, and confirm that the mold is suitable for the thickness and material of the current processing material.

3. Precautions during operation:

(1) Select suitable molds and punch accessories according to process requirements.
(2) During the operation, prohibit more than one person to operate the equipment at the same time to avoid operation confusion.
(3) When punching small workpieces or short workpieces, special tools must be used, and it is strictly prohibited to feed or take out the workpieces directly by hand; when punching long workpieces, a stand should be set up or other measures should be taken to avoid the parts from slipping off or injuries occurring.
(4) When using the press, no part of the hand or body should be close to the stamping area to avoid sending accidents.
(5) When operating, cleaning or adjusting dies on a press stationary in operation, the machine must be stopped and the power supply disconnected first.

4. Safety measures after operation:

(1) Immediately after the operation, turn off the power and gas source and clean up the work area to ensure that there are no debris and residues.
(2) Check whether the molds and fittings on the press are normal, and if they are damaged or loose, they should be replaced or adjusted in time.
(3) Regularly overhaul and maintain the punching machine, including refueling and cleaning of lubrication part and maintenance of electrical part.

5.Shutdown and Abnormal Handling 

At the end of daily operation or when taking a break in the middle of the day, make sure to turn off the power supply and carry out the exhaust operation; if there are abnormal sounds, oil leakage, control failure and so on during the operation, the machine must be shut down immediately and the maintenance personnel must be contacted to deal with the situation.

6. Regular maintenance and record 

Regular maintenance is the key to extend the service life of the equipment. It is recommended to regularly refuel the sliding parts, check the air filter, replace the worn parts in time, and establish equipment use and maintenance records to ensure that the operation data can be traced.

Although there are certain safety risks associated with punching machine work, we can effectively reduce the risk of work by taking reasonable protective measures. When using a punch press, you must carefully study the operation methods, safety regulations and troubleshooting methods of the punch press. At the same time, personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn and work areas need to be equipped with standardized protective facilities. Regular maintenance and overhaul of the punch press to ensure its stable performance and operational safety is an important measure to ensure the safety of the punch press work.
