As an important equipment in metal processing, mechanical punching machine will inevitably have various failures during long-term use. Understanding the causes and solutions of common failures will help to maintain stable operation of the equipment and improve production efficiency. In this article, we will analyze the typical failures of mechanical presses and provide corresponding solutions.

 

1, Slider movement abnormality

 

Slider motion abnormality is one of the most common failures of mechanical presses. It is mainly manifested as the slider does not run smoothly, jammed or stroke is not in place. This type of failure is usually caused by the following reasons:

 

Insufficient guideway lubrication will lead to increased resistance to slider movement. The solution is to check whether the oil circuit of the lubrication system is smooth, and supplement or replace the appropriate lubricant.

 

Worn guide rails or excessive clearance can cause the slider to wobble, in which case it is necessary to adjust the rail clearance or replace worn rail liners.

 

Improperly adjusted clutches or brakes can also affect slider movement, and clutch clearance and braking time should be readjusted according to the equipment manual.

 

2, Clutch failure

 

Clutch failure is mainly characterized by poor engagement, slippage or incomplete separation. Common mechanical clutch problems include friction plate wear, spring failure or insufficient air pressure. For the friction plate wear, should be replaced in time; spring failure needs to be replaced with the same specification spring. Pneumatic clutches also need to check whether the air pressure reaches the specified value and whether the air pipe joint is leaking.

 

Hydraulic clutches may have insufficient oil pressure, you need to check the hydraulic pump, relief valve and oil circuit sealing. Regularly clean the accumulated chips inside the clutch and keep the friction surface clean can effectively prolong the service life of the clutch.

 

3, Transmission system noise

 

Transmission system abnormal noise is often a sign of potential failure. Belt drive system noise may be caused by loose or worn belt, should adjust the tension or replace the belt. Gear noise is usually caused by poor lubrication or gear wear, need to check the lubrication and replace the worn gear.

 

Bearing part of the noise is mostly caused by bearing damage, should be replaced in time with new bearings. When replacing the bearings, pay attention to the direction of bearing installation to ensure proper preload. Flywheel part of the noise may be the keyway loose, need to check the key fit and tighten.

 

4, Overload protection failure

 

Overload protection device failure will seriously affect the safety of the equipment. Mechanical overload protection need to check whether the shear pin is intact, hydraulic overload protection should test the sensitivity of the unloading valve. Regular overload test to ensure that the protection device can be set at the pressure of normal action. If you find hydraulic fluid contamination, replace the fluid and clean the system in time.

 

5. Electrical control system failure

 

Electrical faults may cause the equipment to fail to start or run erratically. First check whether the power supply voltage is stable and whether the fuse is blown. In case of poor contact of the control line, the terminals should be cleaned and re-tightened. A malfunctioning travel switch will affect the cycling action of the equipment, and the switch position should be adjusted or replaced with a new part.

 

Relay contact erosion will lead to abnormal control signal, need to replace the relay. For PLC control system, program error may cause action disorder, should recheck the program logic. Regularly clean the electrical cabinet dust to maintain a good heat dissipation environment.

 

6, Mold related failure

 

Improper installation of the mold will lead to a decrease in stamping accuracy. When the center of the die does not coincide with the center of the slide, the positioning should be recalibrated. Excessive clearance between the punch and the die base will produce burrs, and the die should be adjusted or replaced. Loose bolts of the mold fastening may cause safety accidents, must be regularly checked and tightened.

 

Wear and tear of the mold will affect the quality of the product, and should be repaired or replaced regularly according to the number of times of stamping. Keeping the mold clean and removing the adhering metal chips in time can prolong the service life of the mold.

 

7, Lubrication system failure

 

Poor lubrication will accelerate parts wear. Manual lubrication points are easily neglected, and a regular refueling system should be established. Centralized lubrication system failure, need to check the oil pump working condition and distributor is blocked. Leaks in the oil circuit should be repaired in time to ensure adequate oil supply to all lubrication points.

 

It is important to use suitable lubricants, and lubricants with corresponding viscosity should be used in different seasons. Regularly clean the oil tank, replace the filter element, keep the oil clean.

 

8, Excessive vibration problem

Excessive vibration of the equipment will affect the processing accuracy and stability. The foundation is not firmly installed is a common cause, need to re-leveling and tighten the ground bolts. Poor dynamic balance of transmission components can also cause vibration, dynamic balance should be corrected. When the rigidity of the working table is not enough, consider increasing the support.
